Asymmetry of the ears is a relatively common phenomenon, and in many cases it can be corrected by surgical intervention. In the case where one auricle is significantly larger than the other, an operation known as otoplasty is most often used. This intervention involves correcting the size, shape and position of the ears to achieve a more symmetrical appearance.
The procedure itself usually lasts between 1 and 2 hours, and is performed under local anesthesia, in some cases also under general anesthesia if necessary. Oplasty of the ears is very effective, and the results are often long-term and satisfactory, with minimal discomfort in the postoperative period. The recovery period usually lasts several weeks, during which it is recommended to wear a protective bandage to prevent the ears from moving.
