FAQ

There is no strictly defined age for blepharoplasty. Most patients consider this procedure in their late 30s or 40s when signs of aging become more pronounced, such as sagging skin and dark circles. However, younger people may undergo surgery if they have genetically predisposed drooping eyelids or fat pads under the eyes. The most important thing is that the patient is healthy and has realistic expectations of the procedure, regardless of age.

Symptoms may include droopy eyelids that make it difficult to see, persistent dark circles, a heavy feeling in the eyelids, or excess skin that causes discomfort.

Laboratory analyzes are not required if the patient is healthy. Laboratory analyzes are performed only if the patient has certain chronic diseases and is being treated with anticoagulants or some specific drugs. In that case, the patient is obliged to mention that he is using a certain therapy.

In this type of intervention, mostly local anesthesia is used and the patient immediately leaves the clinic after the intervention. The location of the incision when removing excess skin is chosen so that the scar is completely hidden and invisible.

In order to choose an adequate surgical procedure and technique, first of all, based on the examination, the surgeon notices the problem and its exact cause. After that, the intervention itself is performed under local anesthesia, without special preoperative preparation.

Eyelid surgery usually takes between 1 and 2 hours, depending on whether the upper, lower or both eyelids are being corrected. In most cases, the procedure is performed under local anesthesia with sedation.

Patients are operated on by one of our surgeons who have performed several thousand blepharoplasty operations - eyelids. Most of our surgeons are university professors. We can only tell you the exact name and surname of the surgeon who would operate on you once the appointment has been agreed upon and booked.

Most patients feel only mild discomfort or tightness in the first days after surgery. Pain can be easily controlled with analgesics recommended by the doctor.

Recovery usually takes 1 to 2 weeks. Swelling, bruising and discomfort may occur in the first days after surgery. Most patients can return to their daily activities within 7 to 10 days, following their doctor's advice.

You will be able to see the effect after eyelid surgery already after a few days. However, for the final result, you should wait 2-3 months, until the skin is renewed. The results after surgical correction of the eyelids are long-term. In addition to correcting drooping eyelids, eyelid surgery drastically rejuvenates. The eyes are more open after the intervention, the face has a more rested appearance.

The results of blepharoplasty are long-lasting, but natural aging processes can affect the appearance of the eyelids over time. In most patients, the effect of the procedure lasts for years, and in some cases it can be permanent.

Scarring is minimal and usually hidden in the natural folds of the eyelids or under the eyelashes. Over time, they become almost imperceptible. Correctly following the postoperative instructions can contribute to rapid healing and reduce the visibility of scars.

Possible risks include infection, bleeding, dry eyes, difficulty closing the eyelids, temporary vision changes, and scarring. However, when the operation is performed by an experienced surgeon, complications are rare.

Yes, blepharoplasty can be performed on only one eyelid, if there is asymmetry or other aesthetic or functional reason that requires correction.

Yes, in patients who have droopy upper eyelids that block peripheral vision, blepharoplasty can improve the field of vision.

Makeup is usually not recommended during the first weeks of recovery. Your surgeon will let you know when it is safe to start using it again.

Postoperative care includes regular cooling of the eyelids, refraining from physical activities, avoiding sun exposure and following all surgeon's instructions.

Blepharoplasty can help reduce the appearance of dark circles under the eyes if they are caused by fatty deposits, but may not completely remove dark shadows caused by skin pigmentation.

Yes, laser blepharoplasty is available as an option in certain cases. It can reduce swelling, speed healing and provide more precise results.

Yes, men usually aim for a more natural look with minimal changes in order to preserve the masculinity of the facial features, while for women the results can be more accentuated and shaped according to their wishes.
