FAQ

The most common diseases treated with endocrine surgery include thyroid tumors, parathyroid adenomas, pheochromocytomas (tumors of the adrenal glands), insulinomas and gastrinomas of the pancreas, as well as adrenal cancer.

The price includes: surgery, all laboratory analyzes and one night's stay in the clinic. There are no additional or hidden costs.

Laboratory analyses, internal examination and EKG are performed at our clinic, a few hours before the surgery itself.

Patients are operated on by one of our surgeons who have performed several thousand breast operations. Most of our surgeons are university professors. We can only tell you the exact name and surname of the surgeon who would operate on you once the appointment has been agreed upon and booked.

The most common types of thyroid surgery are thyroidectomy (removal of part or the entire thyroid gland) and partial thyroidectomy (removal of only part of the thyroid gland).

As with any surgery, complications are possible, including infection, bleeding, and scarring. There is also a risk of damage to the vocal cords, which can affect speech.

Thyroid problems can be treated with medication (for hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism), radioactive iodine, or surgical removal of part or all of the gland.

The main indications for thyroidectomy are thyroid cancer, large or symptomatic nodules, and hyperthyroidism that cannot be controlled with medication.

Yes, patients who have had thyroid surgery should be monitored to check thyroid hormone levels and to monitor for possible calcium problems (if parathyroid surgery).

Consequences can include changes in thyroid hormone levels (hypothyroidism), changes in blood calcium levels, and sometimes damage to the vocal cords.

Risk factors include genetic predispositions, previous radiation to the neck, autoimmune diseases, excessive production of hormones or long-term use of drugs that affect the hormonal system.

The prognosis depends on the type of disease and intervention. Most operations on benign tumors have a good prognosis, while the prognosis for cancer depends on the stage of the disease and the success of the operation, as well as postoperative treatments.

Surgical intervention in hyperthyroidism is mandatory if the disease is resistant to drugs and radioiodine therapy, or if there is a large goiter that causes problems with breathing or swallowing. Also, surgery is indicated in Graves' disease that does not respond to therapy.

Diagnostics includes laboratory tests to measure calcium and parathyroid hormone levels in the blood, ultrasound, scintigraphy of the parathyroid glands, as well as CT or MRI scans to locate the tumor.

Adrenal tumors can be benign (such as adenomas) or malignant (cancer). Benign tumors can cause the production of excessive hormones (such as aldosterone, cortisol, adrenaline), while malignant tumors can metastasize and require aggressive treatment.

Addison's disease, or adrenal insufficiency, occurs when the adrenal glands do not produce enough hormones, such as cortisol. Symptoms include fatigue, weakness, weight loss, darker skin (hyperpigmentation), low blood pressure, and occasional bouts of nausea or vomiting. Treatment includes hormone replacement therapy.

Endocrine surgery is a branch of surgery that focuses on treating diseases of the endocrine glands, including the thyroid, parathyroid glands, adrenal glands, pancreas, and reproductive glands. This type of surgery addresses various hormonal imbalances and tumors.

Surgery on endocrine glands is generally very safe when performed by experienced surgeons. However, as with all surgeries, there are risks that depend on the specific disease and the overall health of the patient.

Recovery time depends on the type of surgery and the extent of the procedure. Patients typically stay in the hospital for 1-3 days, and full recovery can be expected within 2-6 weeks.

The results of endocrine surgeries can be permanent, but they depend on the type of disease and surgery performed. In some cases, further treatment, such as hormone therapy or monitoring of health, may be required.
